Today is one of those days when I all I want to do is curl up under a fuzzy blanket with coffee and a good book. It is sooo cold outside. I've been able to stay productive today so far, which is always a plus! I'm about to go downstairs and exercise before I sit down to write an essay. It feels really good to be checking things off of my to-do list, and it feels even better to take a break to blog!
CURRENTLY:
Listening:
Lately I have been listening to a lot of Rend Collective. They have really good lyrics, a great message, and I love their Irish accents! One of my favorite of their songs is "Every Giant Will Fall."
Reading:
As you all probably know, I'm participating in the 2016 Anne of Green Gables reading challenge. I am in the middle of the first book in the series, and so far it is going really well! I am realizing how much I actually skim over long dialogue, and I am really loving the book even more now that I am reading over it slowly! It is packed with tons of great quotes and so much character. I always hate having to put it down.

Thinking:
I am seriously considering participating in the NaNoWriMo Challenge this year. I need to look into it more and think about whether or not I want to do something that big, but I am hoping that it works out. If any fellow writers have participated in that challenge before and can give me advice, more information, or opinions, feel free to share it with me!! It would make my day! :)
Writing:
Last week, I sat down to FINALLY start the novel I have been neglecting for quite some time. I had been having a few doubts about the plot I originally came up with, but I thought that if I just wrote it out, I might find it easy to fix. However, the more I got into it, the more I disliked it. I ended up just ditching it and starting over with something completely new. I have a different idea that I like a lot better, so I'm going to start on that one this week. Here's to the new novel!

Working:
One of my goals for this month was to really work on writing, music, and reading. So far, I have been doing really well with it! I'm also trying to push myself to get up on time and be motivated. I've been working out with my brother, and it feels really great to be productive and busy! I'm trying to unplug a little more often as well and get back into some of my old hobbies. It is simply a matter of pushing myself and forming those habits that are going to be really beneficial in the long run!
Well, that is what has been going on with me lately! Also, as you most likely noticed, I did a little bit of re-designing on my blog header! I don't know what it was about the ink feather that I originally had, but it wasn't really what I wanted the blog to be, so I changed things up a bit. I still have a few more changes to make, but so far I like it a lot! I also added a few new blogs to my favorite blogs page, so you should definitely go check that out!
Have a delightful day! Many warm hugs from the land of ice and snow!

HIIII MEGAN!! I don't think I've ever commented on your lovely blog before, so I'm just going to quickly introduce myself. I'm Abbiee and I found your awesome space through the other Abby (heh) the one with the pens. ;) SO YES. I'm super excited to be here! Because your blog is JUST SO PRETTY AND WELCOMING it had to be said. So hi!!! *ice cream for no reason* Also omg I love this top image because gaaaah it's just yummy and tranquil and SHARPIES. (I have a little bit of a problem with Sharpies. I collect them. Like some people collect stamps or seashells.)
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE SO RIGHT THO. I almost live (? it's unhealthy i think) to CHECK THINGS OFF MY TO-DO LIST. Like...there's something insanely satisfying about it. xD Your reading and writing projects both sound so fabulous and just EXCITING. And good luck on the novel, bro! You can do it. I've never participated in NaNoWriMo before, BUT that is so funny that you should mention it because I pretty much decided (eeep!) YESTERDAY (yep ha) that I'm going to do NaNo this year. GHHLLSMDM. So I literally don't know anything about it, but we can squeal into the challenge together!! (Yes I squeal over lots of things. Fair warning.)
"It is simply a matter of pushing myself and forming those habits that are going to be really beneficial in the long run!" < THANK YOU. I literally needed that today so much you don't even know. x) My goals lately are pretty much the same as yours -- writing, music, (and writing music heh) and reading. Because I don't do enough of it and it's just so easy for me to be sucked into workhorse computerland. (it's a dark and scary place and i wouldn't recommend it for a family vacation.)
SO HAPPY I FOUND YOUR BLOG, DEAR. Totally following. ;)
love,
abbiee
Abbiee! I am soo glad you stopped by! THANK YOUU!! (and thanks for the ice cream...it tastes delicious.) :D
DeleteYeah, I recently discovered the amazing realm of Sharpies, and I've kind of started my own collection too...well, I guess I should say that I'm just adding more and more writerly things to my existing collection of 45,681,235,785,321 pens and pencils. Because writing. :p
I COMPLETELY agree..there is something insanely satisfying about checking things off a list!
I'm officially squealing into the challenge! Let's do this thing. (and don't worry..I squeal over everything too.. :D)
Computerland...It is a frightful place, indeed.
Thank you for following my blog! Now, I'm going to skip down blogger lane and visit yours. Have a lovely day! :)
Hello! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely post - I really enjoyed reading this, among your recent posts too. And I'm looking forward to exploring more of your lovely blog. :)
My name is Raechel as this comment should tell (^.^), and I found your blog by a comment you had left on the Paper Fury blog. I may be a bit of a blog-stalker, but I hope that's alright. ;)
Best wishes on writing for you! Especially if you decide to do NaNo. I've attempted it in years past, but I'm not good at writing under pressure - I write best in God's timing for me, which isn't usually one month! I do so admire those who can write so much in so little time though.
Anyway, I shall stop rambling now. Have a beautifully blessed day!
In Him,
Raechel
Thank you so much! Oh, and don't worry...you are not the only one who blog stalks! *sheepish grins* After all, it is a really great way to find new blogs! I have found so many blogs through links in comments. :) I'm going to try NaNo this year, and see how it turns out. I don't do especially great under pressure either, but it's worth the challenge, I guess! Thank you for your lovely comment! I'm going to go stalk your blog now. ;) ~Megan
Delete:D Yes, it is! And it's always fun finding new blogs.
DeleteI hope NaNo goes really well for you and the challenge is fun! :)
Thank you! I hope so too! :)
DeleteAhh, I do not envy you the cold. XD I get so unproductive when it's cold! I just want to burrow and read for eeeever and ever. :') Hehe. So I'm enjoying summer right now and getting a TON done. *nods* Although I've been slacking off on my editing a bit...oops.
ReplyDeleteOmg congrats on starting your new novel!! GOOD LUCK WITH IT!! And I hope it treats you nice. *gives you encouraging chocolate*
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!
Thank you! Enjoy your summer weather! *burrows into my sweatshirt*
DeleteI think I'm more afraid of what I might do to my novel...HA!

DeleteP.S. I love your blog! :)
I juuust stumbled across your blog! I'm Anna from over at theeverstormcomes.blogspot.com, in which I blog about writing. Your blog is gorgeous, just saying, and so is the picture in this post. I love photography so I kind of have a thing for pretty pictures. Don't mind me xD
ReplyDeleteNANOWRIMO IS WORTH IT, OKAY? If you're a writer, you have to participate at LEAST once! I did all the NaNo events last year, including NaNoWriMo, and it's super challenging but it's really fun. Especially if you surround yourself with great writing buddies to encourage you. However, if 50k in a month is really daunting, there's always the Camp NaNo events at campnanowrimo.org, and you can set your word goal to whatever you want it to be! Both are lovely events, and I totally recommend participating.
I'll be off now, but I'll definitely be hanging around your blog!
HI, Anna! *squeals and waves excitedly*
DeleteThank you for stopping by my blog!
I decided that I am going to do NaNo this year...I'm a little nervous, but I am going to try! :) I am going to start out with just NaNoWriMo, and I may explore the Camp NaNo events a little bit too. Thank you so much!!
