February 2016 | Month in Review

Hello!!! I feel sooo happy that I am finally able to blog again! I have sat down several times to do it this month, but for some reason, I never seemed to have anything to say. HOWEVER, I am back again, and I couldn't be more excited to blog today!! Since I was gone for basically all of February, I'm going to give a sort of update on what went on this month, most likely with a few other random things thrown in. I will kind of give a report card on this month's resolutions along with the update. I feel like it makes things more interesting to read. :)
Early on this month I got sick (twice!), so there was a whole lot of sleeping, reading, tea-drinking, and snuggling under blankets. I have to admit, it was nice to rest and relax, but I definitely would have enjoyed it much more if I was feeling well. *shame on you, sickness!*

Play practice, memorizing lines, and character development have been a significant part of this month as well! I am really enjoying the play this year. Being involved in a play is hands-down amazing. There is beautiful bonding with the cast, hilarious memories, and unceasing amounts of laughter during practice! (Hooray for comedies!) Our performances are only a month away, so things are going to be crazy pretty soon, but it is SO. MUCH. FUN. I just got my costume, and I am super excited about learning how to do the 1940's hairstyles, makeup, and all that fun stuff!

Thankfully, there has been a good chunk of time that I wasn't sick, and in that time, I did a good bit of experimenting in the kitchen! That was one of my resolutions, and I am really glad that I was able to fulfill it. I found some delicious ways to make sorbet and dairy-free ice cream, which was a complete WIN. It was so much fun to get into the kitchen and let my creativity loose! I love cooking.

As I mentioned before, there was a lot of time for me to do reading, and I also have amazing friends who secretly bought me Anne of Avonlea and had it shipped to my house! I was sooo surprised to get that in the mail! It had me squealing with happiness!  (Seriously, who doesn't LOVE surprise packages?!)  Since I finished the book way too early in the month, and because I knew that I would devour the entire series if I didn't take drastic measures to restrain myself, I read that lovely book all over again! I am really happy that I own the entire series now. So, so happy. (many thanks to my dad for that thrift store win!!) I am going to post my review for Anne of Avonlea very, very soon, so be looking out for it!

As far as school goes, I am learning a lot about pace. I tried to cram in order to catch up, and it just wasn't working out. When it comes to setting goals, I am very idealistic. However, I tend to crash when things don't work out like I anticipated. I did not completely catch up on everything like I wanted to, but I am blessed to be homeschooled and be able to learn at my own pace, which matters a lot more.

Something I have been working on this month is a sort of schedule or guideline for blogging. I am considering picking one day of the week as my "blogging day," and that way I will publish one post a week on a set day. I really like the idea, but I will need to do some more thinking and planning before putting it into action.

Another thing I want to share is this video from Sadie Robertson. She made some great points about finding your confidence in God, instead of seeking it in yourself. I found it really encouraging and I hope it is the same for you. It is definitely worth taking the time to watch!

Have a lovely day!!

Report Card: January Resolutions

Hello, everybody! Today I am finally doing my report card from my January Resolutions. Hopefully I will be a little more timely next month. :)
I didn't do everything I wanted to this month but I did make some headway in some areas, and I'm grateful for that. Enjoy! :)

1.) Write every day | B
I did a lot better with this goal than I have in the past, which is awesome! However, I didn't take the time every single day to sit down and write, so I am going to give myself a B. This will be going in my recurring resolutions, though!

2.) Read Anne of Green Gables | A
Yes! I did do this one, and I had SO much fun!! I posted a review on here, so if you want, you can read it here.

3.) Focus more on music | C
I feel like music kind of took a back burner this month, and I'm really disappointed about that. I was sick for a week, and in that time I really didn't do much with music at all.

4.) Read more | A
This I have been able to do, I read Anne of Green Gables this month, and I found a few new books that I want to read. I also started Pride and Prejudice, so I'm really excited about reading that! I usually don't like to be in the middle of multiple books at a time, but I will have to see how I do with it.

Overall Score:
I definitely didn't do as well as I wanted to in January, but I am hoping to be able to make more time for other things this month. (Such as writing and music!)

Thanks for reading! I'm going to post my February resolutions (a little late) in a day or two.
Have a lovely day!

Report Card: May 2015 Resolutions

 1. Practice piano every day | A
I am really happy that I was able to do this! I am working on some really fun songs, and I'm having a great time while doing it. This is definitely becoming a recurring resolution for me!

2. Perfect wedding cake recipe | A
I FINALLY found the perfect recipe, and I feel so relieved! I now need to convert the recipe to a different pan/shape, but that won't be as hard.

3. Finish School | B
I have everything done that I need to at this point except Geometry. I only have two lessons left, and it won't take me long. My brain is shot right now, so I'm very much looking forward to finishing it all up!

4. Sort out my closet | A
Ok, this may or may not have happened at 12:30 at night, but hey, at least I got it done! :P It's nice to have everything sorted and neat again. Not only that, I finished with a giant trash bag STUFFED with clothes to give away!

5. Photo-a-Day challenge | A
I did do this, and I will be posting all the pictures shortly! :)

Recurring Resolutions:
_____________________________________________________

-Blog at least 2 times per week | F
Nope, didn't happen...I feel like once a week is more do-able for me, so I will most likely change the number for June.

-Write every day | A
I actually did do this one! Whether it was in the form of blogging, journaling, letter writing, or working on my novel, I got in some writing every single day. It is really relaxing for me, and I enjoy having a creative outlet that I can go to at any time.

-Finish reading one book | A
Actually, I finished four books. After I had finished one, I got hooked on reading all over again and couldn't stop. I'm keeping one as my goal either way, because I never know how busy life may get in the next few months.

Report Card: February 2015 Resolutions

I recently started something new to keep myself accountable for the goals that I'm making every month. Last month, I posted my February Resolutions, complete with a promise to do a sort of "report card" with how I did in fulfilling them.
(Read my February Resolutions here!)
Today I'm going to post that report card. I'm not completely pleased with how I did with everything, but I did do the main things that needed to be accomplished.
So...here it is! I'll post my March Resolutions in a day or so.

1. Finish reading 3 books|C
I did terrible on this one this month! I was only able to read about two books. I did end up getting back to writing, which is one reason why I didn't do as much reading. I am not counting it a complete failure, though, because I was able to finish some. I'm hoping to find a good balance between my writing and reading though.
(Here are some of my favorites!)

2. Blog at least once a week|A
I did blog once a week! I'm also hoping to be able to do more next month. I feel like I'm doing better with being consistent than I used to, so I'm setting a goal of twice a week for March!

3. Keep up on piano playing|A
I have been playing piano more, and it is really refreshing! I'm working on a very difficult song right now, so hopefully I can keep that going.

4. Get on a new schedule|A
I did get onto my new schedule finally! I'm still experimenting, but so far so good! I'm catching up and getting things done, which is what I mainly wanted to accomplish.

5. Consistent Journaling|B
I have done better with this than before, but it's not quite what I wanted it to be. I have only been doing it about 3 times a week or so, and I really want to make it a habit of doing it every night.

Overall Score: B
I really hope these monthly resolutions/report card will help with accountability reasons, and so far it seems to be working! It makes it easier to have a sort of group of friends to hold me accountable. :)
