country life

Living in a small town in the country is quite a new experience for me...after living in the city for the first twelve years of my life, I must say it was kind of  a shock to move out where dirt roads are common, it is not unusual in the least to get stuck behind a tractor while driving down the road, seeing nothing but cornfields and cow pastures for miles and miles, and mentioning someone's name and having everyone know who you're talking about. While some things I could go without, I absolutely love living in the country. I am finding out that I am more of a city girl than I thought, but I am learning! There are things that I learned to love very quickly when I moved here, such as tractors, dirt roads, playing in barn lofts filled with hay, sunsets behind cornfields, old abandoned barns, cowboy boots, and farms. As Anne would say, "There is so much scope for the imagination."

Some things I do need to get used to still, like cows...I had quite the experience taking cows in from pasture at a friend's dairy farm yesterday. Cows were my favorite animals for the longest time, and I always wished I lived on a farm, but I think I am content with visiting for now.

Like I said, I am learning, and I am growing to love them, but it may take a few visits.

Anyhow, after my long rambling speech, I will now post some pictures of an old farm that I had the pleasure of being at a few weeks ago, along with some adorable kittens. Enjoy!

The house we were at was on the highest point of Illinois, and the view was breathtaking!

I loved the barn. It was full of old machinery and farm tools. Coolest place ever.
